Dear campus community,

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is planning UC Irvine’s first-ever week-long Celebration of Undergraduate Research May 13-17. The celebration will include oral presentations on the evenings of May 13-16 and culminate on Friday, May 17 with a full-day symposium of poster presentations and performances at the Bren Events Center. Last year’s day-long symposium had record attendance of more than 2,000 people.

With this year’s week-long Celebration, we are hoping to have even more people participate. The Celebration not only provides our undergraduate student researchers with the opportunity to present their research, but student attendees of last year’s event reported being inspired and excited about the possibility of conducting research.

We invite the entire UCI community to take time to attend the oral presentations and symposium to support our undergraduates. We hope that faculty will encourage their students to attend events during the Celebration of Undergraduate Research.
