Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that Fan-Gang Zeng, professor of otolaryngology in the School of Medicine, professor of biomedical engineering in the Samueli School of Engineering, and director of the UCI Center for Hearing Research, has been elected an international member of the National Academy of Engineering, one of the highest distinctions for those in engineering and technical fields.

Professor Zeng is being recognized for engineering better treatments for hearing loss and tinnitus, and for fostering inclusiveness in the engineering profession. Professor Zeng has won numerous awards and honors, is a member of the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum, and a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Acoustical Society of America and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

With this election, UCI is now home to 17 members of the National Academy of Engineering. Please join us in congratulating Professor Zeng on this exceptional professional achievement.
