Dear colleagues,

On behalf of Chancellor Gillman, I am pleased to announce that Jennifer Moumneh has been appointed university ombuds and director, Office of the Ombuds, effective October 18, 2021. I would also like to thank Jennifer for her service as interim university ombuds since July 2021.

Jennifer brings more than 18 years of conflict resolution and ombuds experience, including 16 years at UCI. In her previous role as associate ombuds, she managed more than 200 cases annually to address campus stakeholder concerns and advocate for equity and fairness. She also helped track trends to provide feedback and recommendations to campus administration. She is an expert facilitator and mediator of complex issues among multiple parties and a lead trainer for UCI’s annual Basic Mediation Training Program. Prior to UCI, she worked at UCLA’s Office of Ombuds Services and the Institute for Conflict Management.

Jennifer is a former president of the International Ombuds Association, the largest professional association for organizational ombuds globally. She currently serves on the Board of Certification for Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioners. Jennifer earned a master’s in dispute resolution from Pepperdine University, an MBA from the UCI Paul Merage School of Business, and a bachelor’s in mass communication studies from UCLA.

I am grateful to the members of the search advisory committee and its chair, Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer Doug Haynes, for their contributions to this nationwide search.

Please join me in congratulating Jennifer on her new role.

Sincerely,

Hal Stern
