Dear colleagues,
On behalf of Chancellor Gillman, I am pleased to announce that Jennifer Moumneh has been named interim university ombudsperson, effective July 1, 2021. The office name will be updated to the UCI Office of the Ombuds.
Jennifer has served more than 18 years in conflict resolution and ombuds services. She joined UCI in 2006 as associate ombudsperson. In this role, she manages more than 200 cases annually to address campus stakeholder concerns. She also tracks systemic trends to provide feedback to senior staff and administrators. She serves as an expert facilitator and mediator of complex issues among multiple parties and is a lead trainer for the annual Basic Mediation Training Program.
Before UCI, Jennifer worked at UCLA and the Institute for Conflict Management. She has held leadership roles on the board of directors for the International Ombudsman Association and the Board of Certification for Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioners. Jennifer earned a masters in dispute resolution from Pepperdine University, an MBA from the UCI Paul Merage School of Business, and a bachelor’s from UCLA.
Jennifer’s leadership role will continue until a permanent university ombudsperson is appointed. A national search is currently underway.
Please join me in thanking Jennifer for taking on this important role.
Sincerely,
Hal Stern
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
