Dear colleagues,

On behalf of Chancellor Gillman, I am pleased to announce Dave Leinen is back at UCI as Interim Associate Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, effective July 6, 2020.

Dave previously retired in 2019 after serving 35 years in a variety of administrative roles. Most notably, he served nearly 20 years as assistant dean for planning, administration and resource management for the School of Social Sciences from 1999-2004 and 2005-2019. As the senior administrator and chief of staff for the School, he was responsible for managing all aspects of administration including financial planning, facilities and space management, staff and human resource administration, marketing and communications, network and technology services, undergraduate and graduate student affairs, and institutional management.

During his tenure at UCI, he also held management roles in Athletics, School of Physical Sciences, department of Pharmacology and Accounting. He earned a master’s in public administration and a bachelor’s in business administration at California State University, Long Beach. Dave was honored with the Excellence in Leadership Award from UCI Staff Assembly in 2011 and the UCI Lauds & Laurels Staff Achievement Award in 2009.
