COVID-19 pandemic has galvanized the research community to address myriad challenges to our society. Over the last few weeks, we have been able to gather information on the research expertise and capacity from various schools and centers through informal communications. The depth, range, and innovative ideas of the UC Irvine‘s research community that we have learned so far is very impressive. While we have gathered a fairly good assessment of UCI research capacity in COVID-19, we want to make sure that we have included everyone who has the potential to contribute through their research and creative activities. This information will be useful to us to maximize the impact of UCI research. Among other things, it will enable the UCI community to better leverage collaborative efforts and respond to funding opportunities from federal agencies as well as other sponsors in the coming weeks and months.
