On Tuesday, March 3, California voters will have the opportunity to weigh in on issues that impact their communities, their pocketbooks and their futures. UCI is made up of engaged students, faculty and staff eager to get involved, to stand up for what we believe in, and to make a difference on campus, at home and in the world. Voting is key to that engagement.
I hope that all of you – especially students and others who may be newly eligible to vote or need to register with a new address – will take part in the upcoming election and make your voice heard.
Register online with the California Secretary of State or at any Vote Center across Orange County. The deadline to register online for the March Primary election is Tuesday, February 18. After that, you may register in person at a vote center or at the Orange County Registrar of Voters. Additional information can be found at the Registrar’s webpage dedicated to voter registration.
Please register to vote, study the candidates and the measures that are on the ballot. Most importantly, get out and vote on March 3.
Sincerely,
Enrique J. Lavernia, Ph.D.
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
Distinguished Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
