Dear Colleagues,

As a reminder, Senate faculty are invited to submit proposals for funding consideration to a Provost Initiative on Contemporary Issues: Understanding Domestic Terrorism. Awards will range from $1,000 to $5,000+, depending on the proposed projects and alignment to all review criteria.

The online submission deadline for proposals is 5 p.m. (Pacific time) on December 2 at: https://inclusion.uci.edu/confronting-extremism/provost-initiative-understanding-domestic-terrorism/.

Successful proposals will enhance UCI’s reputation as a center for engaging with and addressing the fault lines of conflict about this issue in society. Proposals will help advance our understanding and equip UCI community members with tools for comprehending U.S. domestic terrorism. Projects for funding may include research and/or other creative activities, conferences, workshops, performances, and other engagement to explore the origins and sources, causes and consequences, methods, and responses to domestic terrorism.

This call is hosted by the Office of Inclusive Excellence Confronting Extremism Program, which began in 2017 as a way to examine and challenge the ideas and behaviors advocated far outside of alignment to campus values for social justice and equity. Additional details about the Confronting Extremism Program may be found at https://inclusion.uci.edu/confronting-extremism/.
