I’m pleased to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the Chancellor’s Distinguished Speakers Series for the 2017-18 academic year.
The series is intended to support short-term campus visits by distinguished scholars or other influential people from nonacademic professions who will enrich university life through their contact with students, faculty and the local community. The program seeks to include speakers at all stages of their careers whose work will promote UC Irvine’s ability to respond to the global challenges of an increasingly interdependent world and who will enhance the breadth and diversity of our campus’s intellectual and cultural life. The main purposes of this series are to:
- raise the visibility and influence of UC Irvine in the state and nation;
- enhance the breadth and diversity of intellectual and cultural life on our campus;
- engage the local community around an interesting and relevant topic; and
- show distinguished visitors some of the intellectual life at UC Irvine.
Nominees for this program should be people of national and international stature and influence who will bring distinction to the university through their public lectures as well as through papers, seminars and other organized activities for more specialized audiences.
Please review the Chancellor’s Distinguished Speakers Series website for more information and instructions on how to nominate a speaker.
