Diversity Statements at the University of California

Dear faculty colleagues,

I write to share a message from UC System Provost Katherine Newman regarding diversity statements at the University of California. After careful consideration, the UC Board of Regents has determined that requiring stand-alone diversity statements in new recruitments is no longer permitted. More details can be found in the full letter, including guidance on how the University should, and will, continue to provide due recognition to prospective or current employees who wish to share how they have contributed to inclusive excellence.
