Dear Campus Community,

Looking ahead to 2021, I write to invite you to participate in advancing the campus commitment to inclusive excellence. Our courses and programs are open to all UCI undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff, and alumni. Below are opportunities to learn and grow as a campus community.

Modules for Confronting Anti-Blackness

Preventing anti-Blackness by understanding it. These courses are free and open to all UCI faculty, staff and students. Each five-hour module includes weekly moderated discussions that are supplemented by reading and viewing resources:

  • Module 1: Anti-Blackness in the U.S.: Black Protest Tradition
  • Module 2: Anti-Blackness in the U.S.: Structures and Mechanisms of De-Valuing Black People
  • Module 3: Anti-Blackness in the U.S.: Change the Culture through Personal, Professional and Institutional Accountability

Inclusive Excellence Certificate Program

Mobilizing the campus in the service of equity, diversity, inclusion and free speech. The following courses are free and open to all UCI faculty, staff and students. Each course will include 10, 60-minute sections. Participants who successfully complete the core course plus at least one of the electives will receive an Inclusive Excellence certificate.

  • Core Course: UCI as a Minority Thriving Campus
  • Elective: Wellness
  • Elective: Community
