Dear Campus Community,
The U.S. Student and Exchange Visitor Program today announced changes that will affect international students taking classes online in fall 2020. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Program had previously authorized a temporary exemption that allowed international students to enroll in their spring and summer 2020 courses online. With today’s update, students with certain visas must enroll in at least one in person course this fall to enter or remain in the U.S. Students who choose to enroll fully online will still be able to matriculate with UCI this fall from outside the U.S.
UCI appreciates and values our international students and we understand the concern that many of you may have with these new developments. Our campus will do all that we can to support our students while complying with these changes and minimizing student disruption. We are considering and will continue exploring potential options. This is an evolving situation, subject to change, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
